BECCA STEVENS QUEEN MAB

Becca Stevens encapsulates all aspects of artistry and with latest single 'Queen Mab' tying up several trains of thought. Reimagining the iconic soliloquy by Shakespeare's Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet, she uses her literary prowess as a starting point to question the treatment of albino people in cultures where they are discriminated and sometimes even murdered in line with cultural traditions. Filmed in Tanzania, where the practice of using albino body parts in rituals still exists, she sheds light on their plight while reframing it within comparable parameters. Hard hitting and visually stunning, it's a mix of music, cultural education and social justice. The first album under her own solo name lands 24 March via GroundUP Music, and if 'Queen Mab' is to go by, Regina could be as informative as it is creative. - SJ
